Download a copy of CrashPlan from the CIT Software Downloads page (note: access to this page requires your ObieID and password). Double click on the installer to begin and follow the onscreen instructions.

Mac Installation Instructions

Crashplan Pro Sign In

  1. Open a web browser and go to the CIT Software Downloads page.
  2. Enter your ObieID and password.
  3. Click on CrashPlan for Enterprise for Mac.
  4. Look in your Downloads folder or on your desktop for the CrashPlan installer, CrashplanPROe-Mac.dmg, then double-click on it.
  5. You should see a “Disk Image” on your desktop, click on it and open it.
  6. When you open the image, you should see the install CrashPlan icon. Double click it to install CrashPlan.
  7. Click Continue.
  8. Click Continue.
  9. Agree to the license terms.
  10. Click the Install Icon.
  11. Your computer will prompt you to give your computer’s username and password.
  12. The install will complete. Now you’ll need to enter your first name, last name, ObieID, and your ObieID password.
    • Note! If you are asked for the server name it is: laddie.cc.oberlin.edu
    • Org Code: SMTT-9K8J-JSMH-HKPS
  13. Once the CrashplanPROe app starts up, you may close the installer if it is still open. You can close the application, and it will continue to back you up, every 15 minutes.

Windows Installation Instructions

For
  1. Open a web browser and go to the CIT Software Downloads page.
  2. Enter your ObieID and password.
  3. Click on CrashPlan for Enterprise for Windows.
  4. Click Save. (Note: By default, the installer will be saved to your Downloads folder; this may be different if you have changed your computer's settings.)
  5. At this prompt, click Open Folder. If it doesn’t prompt you, go to the location where you saved the installer.
  6. Find the zipped folder icon so you can “unzip” the installer. Right click on the folder and select “extract all.'
  7. Click Extract.
  8. Double click the CrashplanPROe_win file.
  9. If prompted with a security warning, click Run.
  10. Select Everybody (all users) and click Next.
  11. Select Accept and click Next.
  12. Click Next.
  13. Finally, click Install. When it is done, click Finish. The CrashplanPROe Icon should appear.
  14. If the server isn’t filled in, enter laddie.cc.oberlin.edu . If it asks for an Install Key, enter SMTT-9K8J-JSMH-HKPS. Enter your first name, last name, and your ObieID. Click Create Account.
  15. If a firewall warning comes up, please check all the boxes, and select allow access.
  16. Once the CrashplanPROe app starts up, you may close the installer if it is still open. You can close the application, and it will continue to back you up, every 15 minutes.Finally, you should see something like this. This shows Doggie and Laddie in backup mode. If the pause and run icons to the right say “Start backup” Please click them both so you see the pause or run icon. this is showing my computer is getting backed up to Doggie and Laddie will start after Doggie is finished. The install is finished! You can close the application, and it will continue to back up.
