Good news, the Skype for Business Mac client is now generally available!

Skype Me has opened up a wellspring of people who want to communicate with people from other countries; Skype 2.0 (and above) supports video conferencing; Skype is compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 (2.6.0.151), 10.5 (2.8), 10.5.8. Pleas contact us if any of these information needs to be updated. Updates: Skype for Mac Updates. The Skype for Business Web App plug-in is required for audio, video, and screen sharing during a Skype Meeting. If you joined the meeting but can't connect to the Skype Call or can't see meeting content, try the basic troubleshooting steps first, and then review the list of common issues and errors if necessary. To install and setup Skype for Business on Mac: Quit (Command + Q) all Microsoft Office related programs; Download Skype for Business and install by following on screen instructions; Once installation is complete, Launch Skype for Business and login using: CBS sign-in address - email protected (ex. email protected).

For the best Mac client experiences and an always up-to-date infrastructure, we recommend all customers migrate to Office 365. Skype for Business Server 2015 customers should at a minimum download and install the Skype for Business Server 2015 Cumulative Update version 9319.272 or higher (coming soon). Lync Server 2013 customers should consider upgrading their installation to Skype for Business Server 2015 or downloading the latest Lync Server 2013 Cumulative Update version 8308.973 or higher (coming soon). Lync Server 2010 is not supported – instead, we recommend customers continue to use the Lync for Mac 2011 client.

Overview

Skype for Business is distinct from the Skype application for home use.

Use Microsoft Skype for Business to access Indiana University's UniCom service.

The capabilities of Skype for Business are integrated with Microsoft Office applications, and include:

  • Chat using instant messaging
  • Make audio or video calls (including audio or video conference calls)
  • Share files
  • Share your desktop
  • See others' availability and manage the information others see about you
The features you can use depend on which mode you're using, UniCom Basic or UniCom Enterprise Voice; see IU UniCom feature comparison. Students are eligible for UniCom Basic only.
